10-Step Korean Skin Care Routine| Combination Skin

I have read and heard a lot about the so -oh famous- the 10-Step korean skin care routine. Ketika aku membaca step skin care routine ini membuat aku berfikir " These much? Long list?". Kemudian rasa penasaran ini terus berlanjut dan aku melakukan pencarian informasi melalui google. Untuk produk skin care korea aku juga pilih sesuai dengan tipe dan concern kulit yang aku miliki. Tipe kulitku adalah combination (oily in T zone), sensitive, and sometimes acne prone. It will be a long list but I guarantee it's fun! Untuk step yang aku dapatkan informasi dari Soko Glam by Charlotte Cho adalah :

Step 1 : Oil Cleanser

Step 2 : Foam Cleanser

Step 3 : Exfoliate

Step 4 : Toner

Step 5 : Essence

Step 6 : Serum, Booster, or Ampoul

Step 7 : Face mask

Step 8 : Eye Cream

Step 9 : Moisturizer

Step 10 : SPF ( Morning Routine ) or Face Oil/Night Cream ( Night Routine )

Whoah! As I have informed, it's a very long list to do. Surprisingly I enjoy doing the routine. Well, I only do the 10 step at night and choose skin care diet in morning ( will write about this too! ). Since I don't really have much time in the morning, I like to do as simple as possible. Next! Let's talk more detail about the step. Dibawah ini adalah produk yang aku pilih untuk tipe kulitku.

Step 1 : Oil Cleanser
The purpose from this step is to clean your skin from makeup, dirt, and others with oil based cleanser. Ditahap ini aku menggunakan cleansing balm untuk take off semua yang ada pada kulit diwajahku. Aku memilih cleansing balm dibandingkan cleansing oil karena terasa lebih ringan pada wajah ketika digunakan. Aku mereasa terlalu greasy jika menggunakan cleansing oil. Beberapa produk cleansing balm yang sudah aku coba ada Clinique, Banila Co dan Heimish. All of them are good cleanser! Aku akan review detail mengenai ketiga produk pada blog selanjutnya ya.

Heimish All Clean Balm

Cleans your face without irritation. It has aromatic smells.

Step 2 : Foam Cleanser
The next step is to clean your face with foam cleanser, this step means to wet skin and removes impurities like dirt or sweat. I already do double cleansing since last years. Usually I use micellar water and face cleanser. I found using cleansing balm is much better than miccelar water for the 1st step. The product that I have tried are :

Neogen Real Fresh Foam Green Tea

A good cleanser for morning and night. The foam is creamy and smells good. I've talked about this stuff in my previous blog here

Step 3 : Exfoliate

Melakukan exfoliation pada kulit tidak hanya dapat membersihkan pori-pori yang tersumbat tapi juga dapat mengelupaskan sel kulit mati. When you remove these dull skin, brighter skin will reveal! Untuk produk exfoliator ada dua tipe :

Mechanical exfoliate :
This type of exfoliate is using tools ( ex : sponge, scrub, oatmeal, etc ). Menurutku setiap penggunaan tipe exfoliate ini terasa lebih kasar untuk di muka. Selain itu kamu juga perlu berhati-hati dalam menggunakan produk tersebut, otherwise you could have skin irritation.

Chemical exfoliate :
Using hydroxy acid ( Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Gycolic Acid, etc ) as exfoliate product. I like using this better than the mechanical exfoliate. Dengan menggunakan acid lebih gentle untuk kulitku. Tapi bukan berarti tidak berhati-hati menggunakan acid. It's quite strong ingredients. I suggest you to take slowly, try 2 times a week ( for 1st trial ).

Step 4 : Toner

As I have read in Soko Glam : " After you cleans so many times, your skin is in fragile state" explains Cho. By doing cleansing and exfoliating leave skin clean but sometimes I feel like lil bit dry in some part of the face. That's why I need toner as a way to prep the skin. So it will absorb the following treatment better. I like using hydration toner, it makes my skin feel so much relax.

One of the best hydration toner I ever tried. It has good smells and has light texture.

Step 5 : Essence
Essence is the heart of korean skin care. It claims that it's the most important part of the routine. It's a treatment product similar to serum, but it's more watery consistency. Rasanya seperti memakai toner pada wajah. Aku sempat berfikir kenapa memakai dua produk dengan memiliki teksture yang sama. I might want to skip toner or essence when I do skin care diet in night. LOL

I'm really happy shopping in Shop Althea Id. The owner is very nice, although it takes sometimes for me to finally get the product. Anyway IOPE Bio Essence is classic cult of Korean essence.

Step 6 : Serum, Booster, Ampouls.
It's a treatment that focus on your skin problem. For example serum treatment for dull skin, large pores, or dark spot. The treatment is more targeted for your skin's problem.

The first korean serum that I tried.
Teksturenya light dan memberikan cukup kelembapan dikulitku. Selain itu serum ini menjadi booster untuk produk treatment selanjutnya yang aku pakai.

Dear Klairs, Fresly Juice Drop VIt C Serum.
Sometimes Vit C serum leaves a tingling sensation.
Serum ini cukup gentle untuk dipakai pada kulitku, tidak terasa tingling sensation hanya saja ada rasa warm sensation ketika aku pakai.

Step 7 : Face Mask
The most fun part! Aku suka sekali menggunakan face mask, karena aku merasa relax and refreshing setelah menggunakan face mask. Aku sudah mencoba beberapa produk face mask dari Innisfree, Tony Moly, My beauty Diary, SKII, Skinfood, Nature's republic, dan lainnya. Dari beberapa brand yang aku sebut, paling suka face mask dibawah ini :

Step 8 : Eye Cream
Seperti serum/booster/ampouls yang berfungsi fokus pada skin care concern, Begitu juga dengan eya cream, bergantung pada concern area mata yang kamu miliki. This could focus on everything from fine lines to dark circles, there’s a cream for it.

Inexpensive yet works well.
Menurutku produk ini memberikan kelembapan untuk daerah mataku. I don't really have puffy and dark under eyes, so it's just moisturize the skin area around my eyes.

Step 9 : Moisturizer
Pada step ini berfungsi untuk lock moisturizer pada kulitmu. A healthy hydrated skin is a tips for a younger looking skin at all ages. Aku sedang memesan moisturizer dari Dear Klairs, tetapi masih on proses. Sampai saat ini aku memakai moisturizer dari SKII.

How do I describe this : An amazing moisturizer for oily combination skin but it's so painful for the wallet!
Kalau kamu dengan tipe kulit seperti aku pasti paham kalau memakai moisturizer kadang menambah minyak di wajah jika teksturnya terlalu tebal dan oily. Tetapi moisturizer ini ringan dan langsung menyerap. Selain itu setelah pemakaian satu bulan, I have noticed that my skin is brighter than before.

Step 10 : SPF ( Morning ) or Night Cream/Face Oil ( Night )
Finally the last step of this treatment. Jika kamu melihat dibanyak artikel biasanya menyebutkan step terakhir adalah SPF, tetapi kalau malam hari kan tidak diperlukan sunscreen.

Anyway kalau aku pakai skin care di pagi hari lebih DIET alias banyak step yang aku skip. Aku hanya menggunakan Face Wash - Toner/Essence - Mosturizer - SPF. Produk yang mengandung SPF seperti sunscreen yang aku pakau ada dua yaitu Clinique City Block 40 atau Innisfree Long Wear Cushion. Yes. I'm using cushion as last step. Kenapa? Karena innisfree cushion seri long wear matte mengandung SPF 50 dengan ada sedikit memberikan warna segar pada kulitku.

Untuk malam hari aku menambahkan face oil untuk last step. Aku memilih rose hip oil dari The Ordinary atau Luna oil dari Sunday Riley ( I have already reviewed here : Short Review Luna Oil)

Aku suka sunscreen ini karea tidak memberikan white cast ataupun menyumbat pori-pori yang terkadang dapat menyebabkan jerawat.

Innisfree Long Wear Matte Cushion.
Cushion ini memiliki SPF 50 which is great!
Dengan memakai kegiatan di pagi hari lebih cepat karena produk ini sudah mengandung SPF dan membuat wajah terlihat segar dengan warna cushion yang bisa kamu pilih dari terang maupun gelap sesuai warna kulitmu.

The Ordinary : 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil.
Rosehip oil is one of the linoleic oil that suitable for oily-combination skin.

This face oil is for my acne treatment.
Ketika aku berjerawat ketika PMS dengan menggunakan face oil ini dapat meredakan acne yang sedang meradang dan menghasilkan jerawatku kempes dan lama kemudian berkurang.

Ladies! that's it my skin care routine yang aku adaptasi dari 10-Step Korean skin care yang aku temukan di beberapa artikel. Untuk produk yang aku pakai mostly brand korea, tetapi masih ada 1 - 2 product dari brand lain. Menurutku banyak sekali brand skin care korea yang menarik. Hanya saja keterbatasan kita yang tinggal di Jakarta untuk menemukan produk tersebut langsung pada toko yang ada di mall.

Dari beberapa brand yang ada disini seperti Innisfree, Etude, Skinfood, The Saem, dan lainnya menurutku brand yang paling lengkap dan harganya masuk akal jika dibandingkan dengan harga di korea adalah brand innisfree. Walaupun sudah tersedia di Jakarta, Innisfree masih menawarkan produk dengan harga yang tidak membunuh kantong kamu. Tapi.... masih bisa juga kalian temukan produk skin care korea di online shop account instagram ataupun website menjual produk seperti papuros.
